New Trans Tunnel Fabrication, Day 7 (August 10, 2012)

Today I finished up the tranny tunnel.

First I located and cut out the shifter hole in the tranny tunnel piece.

The shifter boot is from a '97-'02 F-body.

Then I welded in the tranny tunnel piece.

New Trans Tunnel Fabrication, Day 6 (August 9, 2012)

Today I formed up the tranny tunnel piece and got it ready to weld in.

I used a gallon paint can to help shape it.

New Trans Tunnel Fabrication, Day 5 (August 8, 2012)

Today I cut out the large front portion of the tunnel.  I used the paper template I made yesterday and traced it onto the metal.

First I needed to add 1-1/2" since the piece was only 24" wide.

New Trans Tunnel Fabrication, Day 4 (August 7, 2012)

Today I started working on the upper portion of the tranny tunnel.  Just as I did on the first piece, I made a paper template to get the shape I wanted.

Here are some new pics of the entire car.  It's coming together!

New Trans Tunnel Fabrication, Day 3 (August 6, 2012)

Today I welded in the rear piece of the tranny tunnel.

Grinding down plug welds

I also made a flat tab and welded it onto the front of the tunnel opening so I would have something to weld the tunnel to.

New Trans Tunnel Fabrication, Day 2 (August 5, 2012)

Today I started fabricating the new tunnel pieces.

I cut a buck out of wood to form up the tunnel.
