This post covers the installation of the Modo Innovations power trunk release mechanism. You can see that the power unit is larger than the original latch assembly. It will mount in the original location and uses the factory bolt holes. The opening will need to be enlarged a bit.
The kit comes with a template for the enlarged cut out.
Just a matter of trimming out the opening. I used a reciprocating air saw.
Finished cut out prior to paint touch up on the cut edges.
Dropping in the new latch.
Secured in place.
