This post is just some basic clean up and a couple of small adjustments to some previous (to our ownership) repairs. Wanted to removed some heavy seam sealer in a few spots and re-apply it a bit nicer. During removal, I made a few small "discoveries"...nothing earth shattering but stuff I couldn't leave as is.
Began with scraping.......
This was one of the discoveries, the lower portion of the cowl had been replaced. They decided that this area did not need to be welded back together, just covered up with gobs of seam sealer. Glad I decided to investigate!
I formed up a small filler to be mounted on the inside with plug and seam welds.
View from inside the cowl vent.
The car had received a full floor pan replacement. This is the front corner of the floor on the passenger footwell. This was also covered with seam sealer....
I dollied the floor to a nice corner and formed up this patch panel.
Here is the head of the scraping department :o)
Clean up with a Roloc disc.
Took the Roloc disc to the underside of the dash area and the foot wells too.
Also the head of Quality Control !! One tough Inspector !!!
Same process here. This was also buried in seam sealer. But thankfully no surprises here!
Scuffed everything with Scotchbrite pads.
Roloc disc took care of the surface rust that had formed on the bottom of the tunnel (bare metal).
Ready for primer and a bit of bodywork.
