Wiring - Under Dash Battery Feed Connections (August 31, 2013)

These are the bulkhead connectors which are located on the passenger side of the trans tunnel at the base of the firewall. The battery cables from the trunk will run these connectors. Everything under the dash will pick up power here. On the engine side there will be the battery feed to the starter and a ground to the engine block.

Originally I had made a bracket with 1 50amp fuse for the feed to the fuse panel. After rethinking I decided to use a circuit breaker and include the breaker (50 amp) for the cooling fans. In addition I will mount the 30 amp breaker for the HVAC.

I modified the bracket with this circuit breaker mounting bracket.

Here is the assembly mounted on the LH stud for the evaporator.

Here the fuse panel feed, cooling fan feed and the HVAC feed are routed to the breakers. The other red wire you see bypassing the breakers is the EFI feed. It has it's own fuse in the EFI fuse/relay panel. The various grounds are run down with this wire as well to the bulkhead connectors below.

Terminating the leads to the connectors.

The lock washers are ty-wrapped to the wires so I don't loose them before I add the battery cables! The purple wire is the starter solenoid lead. I am waiting for the parts to make a small bulkhead connector for this.

There will be a false floor covering the bulkhead connectors and the cables.
