Radio & Antenna (December 30, 2013)

This is the Kenwood KIV-701 head unit. It is basically a media player/radio, meaning it does not play CD's. It will accept pretty much any type of digital media from an iPod, phone or even a flash drive. It can support a back up camera and bluetooth phone with the right accessories as well. It will be powered by a JBL 5-channel amp mounted in the trunk.

I used a billet 1/2 DIN bezel in the dash to mount the head unit. I actually bought the plastic version first but it looked terrible.

It is a tight fit behind with the HVAC ducting but it all fits without having to force the head unit in.

The RCA's will run to the trunk under the console.

Going with the Dakota antenna.

Mounting it here on the top of the windshield. Since everything is black, it pretty much disappears. From the outside, the shade at the top of the windshield hides it.

On a fiberglass car you are supposed to be able to mount it to the underside of the roof. I will try that out before the headliner goes in. If it works that would be great!
