Final Assembly - Engine & Trans (May 15 - 16, 2013)

This post is another that is pretty straight forward, since we already  mocked all this in place. It's just really cool to see it all painted and knowing this is the final install!

Covered the firewall with a pad to keep it looking nice. Used the lift to raise the car up so the engine hoist could go under without any interference. Will also need to get underneath for the trans installation.

Here we go!

Motor mount bolts going in.

A strap and an 2 x 4 to support the rear of the engine until the trans  goes in.

QuickTime scattershield goes in next. This is the engine plate.

Flywheel going on. The entire clutch assembly comes with the American Powertrain T56 kit. It is made by LUK and is an LS7 equivalent. I replaced the new stock hardware with all ARP stuff.

Disc with alignment tool (also included in the kit).

Pressure plate and more ARP hardware.

Torquing the scattershield.

Ready for the trans.

Hoisting the trans up to the trans jack. This is the close ratio version of the T56 (2.66 1st gear ratio).

You can see the hydraulic throw out bearing on the input shaft.

Crazy man on the jack!

Wiggle wiggle to get everything lined up.

Torquing the trans to the scattershield.

Crossmember going in.
